Accommodation

Accommodation on Koh Phangan is available at a wide range of levels, with something to suit virtually every taste. The island has modernised from the days when all the huts were made from bamboo and grass, and the only western food on the menu was banana pancake. Koh Phangan's growing popularity is bringing a wider range of tourists to its shores, with travellers rubbing backs with package tourists from Koh Samui.
To cater for this wider range of tastes, the resorts are modernising their rooms, increasing their facilities and offering a greater variety of dishes on their menus; all at cheaper Pha-ngan prices. The resorts have adapted to incorporate A/C, hot water and other things previous visitors dreamed about but couldn't have. Accommodation standards on the island have risen dramatically over the last couple of years and most of the old skool 80 to 150 Baht huts have been replaced with 250 to 450 Baht fan rooms; and A/C rooms can be found at most resorts for 800 Baht and up.

Koh Phangan still retains its chilled out vibe and rustic desert island living, and virtually all the accommodation in still in friendly, family run bungalow operations. The locals love the place even more than its guests, thus most of the modernisation has been done tastefully, blending in with the wonderful natural surroundings.
One of the great things about this island is the great variety of different places to stay, with beachfront bungalows, chalets in the rainforest, deserted beaches to camp on and luxury hilltop resorts, every taste is catered for. That counts for the vibe your looking for to; you can party yourself to pieces in Had Rin, watch coral grow from your hammock or you can stay at Than Sadet National Park and check out the giant monitor lizards. Due to the great geographical diversity that the island has to offer, each beach has its own individual characteristics and attributes, leading to a different vibe on every beach with each one having its own identity.

FULL MOON PARTY THAILAND

KOH PHANGAN BEACH PARTY, THAILAND

Koh Phangan is a very special place, there are few places in this world where you can live out your desert island dreams of palm trees and white sand beaches, and still have a blinding night out at a rocking party every month. With the global notoriety that the Full Moon Party has gained as being one of the biggest and best beach bashes in the world, we get more than our fair share of hedonists gracing our shores. Each year the scene here grows with the ever-increasing number of party faithful that return, bringing their mates and spreading the vibe.

Haad Rin is home to the Full Moon Party and also houses about 3-5000 rather mad people; it is the island's nightlife capital and has Koh Phangan's biggest concentration of beach clubs that collectively put on the ultimate travellers get together. There are over 12 major sound systems running the length of Had Rin beach, catering for 8000 to 12,000 punters in low season, 15,000 to 20,000 in high season and up to 30,000 at New Year. Within this transient crowd of party animals some highly talented DJ's pass through, banging out their wares to the raging lunar explorers that have landed on planet party.
